Mission, Vision, Values, and Quality Policy

To become a UANL higher education institution in the fields of Chemistry, Engineering and Administration, which parallel to its vision, implements educational activities in research, services, and liaison, promoting scientific, technologic and human development, keeping the track of security and environmental norms to improve the quality of life within society.


The School of Chemical Sciences of the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, is internationally recognized in 2020 for its quality in the training of professionals and postgraduates, research, links with the productive sector and community service, as a world class and socially responsible organization.

Quality Policy

The School of Chemical Sciences of the UANL, a socially responsible organization fulfills its mission by responding to the challenging needs of the global environment, ensuring quality, and continuous improvement of its processes, a transparent administration, which cares for the environment, in accordance with the International Standard ISO 9001: 2008, and within the legal framework of the School and the UANL.

Values (Vision 2020 UANL)

Truth: To achieve its aims and purposes, life and institutional activities are organized having as central concept the discovery of the truth.

Equity Promoting equality of educational opportunities for young people who later will be a stable basis for the national development. Equity into practice is a fundamental value of social responsibility of this University in the performance of its duties.

Honesty: It is the primary virtue that should distinguish the institution. Honesty leads to know the human condition necessities, and the limits of the knowledge. It refers to the respect for truth and relation with the world, facts and people.

Freedom: Knowledge leads to the practice of self-determination and the proper choice between alternatives. In order to achieve its aims, the University organizes the institutional duties based on the creation and use of knowledge in an environment of truth and freedom.

Solidarity: As a public institution, the University has the responsibility of being solidary and maintaining the commitment to provide equal access to all society, especially to the less privileged, so the institution must perform continuous efforts to accomplish this purpose.

Respect for life and the others: It is considered a cohesion factor in a society where diversity is a characteristic. This facilitates harmonious coexistence and a freely environment for the students, forming the basis of solidarity and community life.

Peace: State of balance of the University components. Peace means comprehension, and good relationships among the members in University community, in compliance with institutional functions.

Respect for nature The training activities of the University are based on respect for nature and harmony with society. Therefore, it has been assumed as a compromise the formation of bachelors, technicians, professionals, scientists and humanists with ecological awareness. It is a freely environment for students where taking care of the nature is a primary task. It is an important value for the new citizen of the world to adopt the ideology of sustainability.

Integrity The University has as obligation to be an example of honesty and integrity, directing all actions attached to the truth and being apart from behaviors and practices related to simulation and misappropriation.

Ethics. Must be the premise of every student. Graduates must be firmly added to the principles and values that regulate professional activities and the labor market. It is in an ethical environment where the new citizen is committed to the development of society.

Justice. This is to provide a greater equality of education opportunities, to the less privileged that had not had access to proper education. A justice environment is prone to social mobility; this is the main reason of this public university and the educational model of Mexico as a developing country.

Analytical thinking. Natural ability of university students to comprehend a situation and find some solutions, starting from the study of its components, organizing variables, make comparisons, and establish priorities in a rational manner.

Humanism It means to educate values, respecting intellectual characteristics, feelings and emotions, having educational programs in accordance to human needs. It is one of the most significant attributes of the university, which considers the human being at the center of their educational processes, research, and management.

Efficiency. An effective university is one that serves on time and in an appropriate manner, the demands and needs of the population maintaining the same quality standards. Efficiency is a key part of the university labor.

Leadership Promotes the spirit of excellence needed to achieve public recognition in educative programs and university services, so that, the University is recognized as a public institution that provides cutting-edge solutions.

Multi disciplinary work Intellectual and institutional work of many experts from different disciplines who are working together in teams to deal with difficult issues, but keeping greater chances to succeed with an ethical consciousness.

University Social Responsibility The University is a learning community committed with continuous improvements in the quality of services for the benefit of society. Social responsibility demands consistency between what is said (mission, vision, and values) and what is done. It is also about assuming new commitments to society.
